The Parish Council owns three notice boards which are situated:

  • On the right side of Scotland Lane at the point where it becomes Linwal Avenue
  • On right side of A47 (from Leicester) past Main Street and before Firs Road
  • On Main Street outside Co-op store

Notice boards are primarily for the Parish Council to display its notices and other official documents. Local clubs, societies and organisations from Houghton and surrounding villages, however, are also welcome to publicise their events and activities. Similarly, local residents may post business cards and 'lost and found' notices. In the event that there are more notices than can be accommodated, priority will be given to those from Houghton's clubs, societies and organisations. Notices are posted at the discretion of the Parish Council. If you would like to post a notice please ensure that it is no bigger than A4 size and ideally smaller (e.g. A5). If the Parish Council finds that it is regularly running out of space it might have to restrict all notices to A5 size. If you want anything displayed please contact Huw Francis, Chairman, either by my email (HuwMungus@aol.com) or by telephoning 0116 2416163.

The notice board outside the Co-op (right) commemorating the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in 2012 store was installed free of labour charge by Alan Liquorish, a local resident. The Parish Council was grateful to him and Norray Joinery for this generous gesture. The Midlands Co-operative Society also contributed towards the cost of materials. Malcolm Lomax, a local resident, inscribed the header board without charge.
